Editorial policies

1. Aims and Scope
Biomed Thought (BT) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing cutting-edge research across all disciplines of biomedical sciences. The journal welcomes original research articles, review articles, short communications, case reports, and commentaries that contribute significantly to the advancement of medical knowledge, translational research, and clinical practice. The full Aims and Scope can be found [here].

2. Editorial Independence
BT maintains full editorial independence from its publisher, MIND QUEST RESEARCH & EDUCATIONAL CENTER (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED. The Editor-in-Chief has final authority over the journal's editorial content, including the selection of manuscripts for publication. Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, validity, and relevance to the journal's scope, and are never influenced by commercial, political, or financial interests.

3. Peer Review Policy
BT operates a rigorous single-anonymized peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of the research it publishes.

  • Initial Screening: All submissions are subjected to an initial screening by the editorial office to assess compliance with journal formatting, scope, and plagiarism policies. Manuscripts that fail to meet these basic criteria may be rejected without external review.

  • Reviewer Selection: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to an Associate Editor who invites expert reviewers (typically two or more) based on their expertise, independence, and absence of conflicts of interest.

  • Review Process: Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript for originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, clarity, and significance of the findings. They provide detailed comments to the authors and a confidential recommendation to the editor.

  • Decision Process: Based on the reviewers' reports and their own assessment, the Editor makes one of the following decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. The final decision is communicated to the authors along with the reviewers' comments.

  • Duration: The journal strives to provide a first decision within [e.g., 4-6 weeks] of submission.

4. Editorial Board
The Editorial Board comprises distinguished researchers and clinicians from diverse institutions worldwide who provide strategic guidance, assist with peer review, and promote the journal within the biomedical community. The composition of the Editorial Board is regularly reviewed to ensure breadth of expertise and geographical representation. The current list of Editorial Board members is available [here].

5. Duties of Editors
Editors of BT are guided by the COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors. Their key duties include:

  • Acting in a balanced, objective, and fair manner while carrying out their duties without discrimination.

  • Handling manuscripts based on their academic merit, free from commercial or self-interest.

  • Ensuring a fair and appropriate peer review process.

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of manuscripts and reviewer identities.

  • Investigating any suspected ethical misconduct.

6. Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the quality of the journal. They are expected to:

  • Provide a timely, objective, and constructive assessment of the manuscript.

  • Declare any potential competing interests.

  • Treat the manuscript as a confidential document.

  • Alert the editor to any ethical concerns, such as suspected plagiarism or duplicate publication.
